Are we Human or are we Dancer?

I used the dancer metaphor in the opposite sense from The Killers song, meaning a dancer is a person who’s heart is connected to his head, he is alive and human. There is a hint of this meaning in the song as well, as puppet disconnected from it’s string falls to its knees, even his heart is still beating. In American culture dance is very mechanical, not improvisational. Even hip hop dance is very rehearsed (give or take Beastie Boys). MC Hammer was outrageous but very staged. Dance in way cheerleaders dance at sporting events is rehearsed to the slightest move. The entire Dancing with the Stars phenomenon based on the strict discipline of the latin and ballroom dancing. In this context a Dancer is very controlled, perhaps indeed not human, like in The Killers song!

Are we Human or are we Dancer? Don’t want Hora, want Wacław Niżyński! I know I am intentionally confusing the metaphors of the song.
