Tom Robbins said: “When they tell you to grow up, they mean stop growing.” Be cautious, expect little, internalize pessimism and accept failure, stop trying and demanding like a child. Stop being curious.
I add to this when that tell you to “speak like a human being” they ask you to hide your humanity, to be fearful of your own voice, to know your place and norm in a social hierarchy like a domesticated cat, to be part of a herd, to know when not to bark, to be rehearsed (re-hearsed – re-buried).
