3 Games of Life you don’t want to play

  1. You don’t want to play a game you can’t lose - wouldn’t even qualify as life. It lacks the essential purpose, the mystery, the adrenaline of meaning.
  2. You don’t want to play a game if you know the plot – a tale with all familiar characters is cracked. The very definition of boring.
  3. You don’t want to play a game when your only opponent is time – the game that doesn’t have a lethal monster ready to block your every move. We know we can’t advance unless we “slaughter” them. There are three types of the blocking monsters:
    • Monsters we expect and prepare to fight;
    • Monster that jump out suddenly, we need to be on alert for those.
    • Most lethal type of monsters are in a benevolent disguise. This creature has the magic ability to look like your best friend, your career counselor, your guru, your rabbi or priest, even your parent or “your god”. In the game of life watch out for those, they are your hardest hurdle.

I often hear from friends – “I was going to be “X” but that one [insert here] turned me away, blocked my path”. Man, that’s the whole game!

I didn't help you write this at all. It's all you and you are well aware of that fact. You just get a kick out of being mysterious. You've great intellectual curiosity which I like to believe I have but then I meet someone like you and I have my doubts. Just not sure I can compte in the conversation department.
The games:
1. Of course everyone wants to win but I like a challenge. If it were easy to accomplish my goals then why bother to pursue them. I am proud of some of the things I have done b/c not everyone can do them. I like being elite or part of a small % who can do something.
2. the unexpected is definitely a wonderful thing. The way I see a perfect career for me is that I know some of what to expect but then there are elements that surprise me on a daily basis/ conflicts and crises that I must resolve under pressure. I'm happy with some planning and some spontaneity.
3. So many people have told me I cannot be a nurse bec. I don't have the personality for it or that I should do such and such career when I know that will not make me happy. People do not understand why I like to write when it is not the most lucrative profession. I know that but I know that I will have to work in healthcare to supplement my writing “career.”

So that is how I interpret you game. It scares me and makes me a little sick to think about it. I don't like to lose. I don't like to fail. I feel like I'm already behind.

What game would that be? I feel like I've tried more than a few games in the past 10 years or so (don't like to reveal my age). So what is left to play? Perhaps I'm just not adventurous enough for this game of life. Rejection knocks me down for too long and I have a hard time recovering. I have a blog called “Amy's Black List.”

When I get to a dark place it helps me to be with friends and I figure this is the one thing I must offer to people unconditionally.

By understanding me as an individual or that I'm in a “dark place” and
you feel a sense of obligation to make yourself understand?
