Lotte Eisner and Werner Herzog
In the dead of winter from November 23rd to December 14th of 1974 Werner Herzog walked all the way from Munich to Paris. That was two years after Herzog filmed Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes in the Peruvian jungle. Werner Herzog believed that if he walks to Paris, he would find the Berlin born Jewish film critic Lotte Eisner, who was dying in Paris, still alive. Werner actually wrote a book about this.
This reminds me about the late Pina Bausch in Cafe Muller, reenacting Henry Purcell’s Æneas.
