The most astounding realization about abuse is the conflicted feeling towards the abuser by the abuse victims and no matter the severity, the victims harbor attachment and even love to the abuser. The unfortunate reality is that abuse victims tend to re-enact abuse and inflict same damage done to them on others.
Just like there are abused people, there are abused nations and tribes. The dual calamity of Holocaust [and Gulag] is that the slaughter by the imaginary god figure could only trigger the massive religious revival, the Stockholm Syndrome played out on a national scale.
David Ben Gurion was not able to foresee that benign and contained religiously could flourish so violently post holocaust and even choke the secular Zionist vision. Contrary to what the peddlers of the religion would lead you to believe, practical Zionism was a secular post religious idea. Alas, David Ben Gurion couldn’t anticipate the dynamic of abuse victims played out on a national scale.
