In 1938 Hugo Jaeger (who was Hugo Jaeger) photographed British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain during his infamous visit to Germany. It’s not hard to see a gentleman overwhelmed by the display of  the military costumes and the theatrical Nazi staging. These photos were taken in September 1938 in Munich.

This was our mess hall in 1946-1948 for the 10th Air Supply Squadron. I was stationed at Oberwiesenfeld for thirteen months until transferred to Erding, approximately twenty-five km East of Munich.

Interesting, especially that second photo. Chamberlain in his dated clothes looks he literally stepped out of a Victorian HG Wells-type time machine, completely confused and out of his depth. Henderson the diplomat is scheming next to him, knowing he only has months to avert war – you can almost see the gears frantically turning in his head… while all around them the arrogant Nazis stomp and preen themselves. Scary stuff!
