My review The Double Afterlife of Mendel Schneerson was thoroughly hated by the crazy Samuel Heilman, alas there is a review in Forward he must really like. A simply outstanding artcile by Allan Nadler – The Life (and Death and Life) Of the Rebbe. Speaking of Yeshayahu Leibowitz’ quote on psychopath or a charlatan, no one really mentioned that it all fits into Robert Sapolsky’s Metamagical Schizotypal description with Berl Schneerson being a schizophrenic.
But true to my thesis I say that they all are missing the point. It wasn’t the obsessive grave visits nor the actual afterlife after-after Brooklyn. The Rebbe died when he came to America or ten years later when he became a Rebbe. He suffered an irreparable breakdown and was a living dead all along during his last 40 years, trapped in the Chabad sarcophagus.
