Quint Buchholz, Das Schweigen des Löwen

What organized dating sites fail to understand is that people are far more interesting in what they don’t say about themselves – Nassim Taleb.

I was at a neighborhood meting last week. All the predictable characters delivered their predictable speeches. I heard them for years. Yet I can’t say that it was the same meeting as in past. There is an entirely different plane, where really significant events occur independent or even despite of what people actually say.

And this is not just a meeting. I am amazed to what lengths humans go to envelope a narrative track around their lives. They lean on mythology and construct a mythology about themselves. And there is so little weight to the verbiage. Everything important and of consequence occurs in the symbols and the stirrings that are far to expansive to press into words.
