Google Launches Algorithmic Change to Down-Rank Sites that Copy Content

Matt Catts writes that they put the new algorithm in motion at Google:

“My post mentioned that “we’re evaluating multiple changes that should help drive spam levels even lower, including one change that primarily affects sites that copy others’ content and sites with low levels of original content.” That change was approved at our weekly quality launch meeting last Thursday and launched earlier this week.”

I have to say Google is acting like stagnating leader. It was obviously a huge problem for at least five years. But it took them several prominent posts last month to finally pay attention and start doing something about it. Hopefully this will make a tangible differences. I mean if not for the Internet they will never move…
