This is the RCA lecture by Ian Morris delivered in London in 2010. This is part of the tour by Ian Morris in connection with his book Why the West Rules – for Now. I get unnerved by his Singularity references, being from Stanford he should be suspected in the heresy. But what an impressive map of history.

The strongest part of this “panorama theory” is England, naturally. Then it seems that Ian Morris projects the English model backwards and forwards, leaving huge holes in the map. I wonder if there is anything in the book itself about the Renaissance, the rise of the twins s of the Nazi Germany and Russia and the “post communist” China.
And the human history definitely din’t start from the agriculture, I hope there is at least an acknowledgement.
