On the internet nothing is as valuable as a contrarian view. Especially when this contrarian view manages to puncture the shell of an echo chamber and infiltrate it’s very body.Thank you Don Matesz for the Farewell To “Paleo”. I am going to carefully digest it all. But if you look at the actual, current Don Matesz diet, you will notice that he still doesn’t eat any of the foods defined as the Paleo toxic (except soy).
As Don Matesz pointed out, someone got really fat on the “Paleo” diet (to the left).
As an aside I don’t know why these statutes are assumed to be “goddesses”, I think it was just an exotic Paleolithic chick. Possibly in those days someone zaftig was as exotic and rare as the contemporary anorexic model. Again as an aside, not sure why there is never a face or even a head. We know from the caves that they could depict the very complex animal faces. But there was the instinctive fear of a human and human face in particular. For sure we have this in common.
P.S. I was thinking, what is the evolutionary reason for humans to live till there are eighty? Forty, fifty even thirty should be enough to pass on the genes. What’s the evolutionary use for the potential longevity? Perhaps an elder could be a depository of knowledge, he can warn the youngsters about the full of snakes cave, while the youngsters can execute their hardwired evolutionary program of ignoring his advice. Perhaps the meaning of growing old is the sacred goal of getting disillusioned on the round trip of ideas.

Perhaps the ideal evolutionary function is not self perpetuation but the avoidance of discontinuity.
although that raises the question wouldn’t not being born be a more efficient way to avoid discontinuity.
Evolution is a euphemism for mutation or non linear continuity, a discontinuity if you prefer. But for whatever reason, that no one really understands, humans are the only surviving species of the homo tree (for now).
