Animated Precast Concrete by Jiří Barta

Czech animator Jiří Barta uses soviet style precast concrete building to illustrate suppression of an individual. This is a very interesting animation but I can say with authority the premise is absolutely false. Individuality is suppressed through indoctrination. No building or clothing can do the same. ►►►read more

Optimus Mundus is a project of short animations about Moscow to commemorate 850th anniversary of the city. This one is titled “The Secret is You” by Dmitry Geller. Romantic to the core animation juxtaposed on the Moscow’s century. It starts with Lenin voice over. Moscow monuments flash in the widow. The dark tunnel is a reference to the dark Stalin days. If you look closely there is a mounting figure of Lubov Orlova, Russian Merlin Monroe, surrounded by the famous Moscow monuments. And above all there is love and a woman as a salvation, she pulls the protagonist outside of the relentless history train for a playful stroll on the Red Square.
